Great clubs, an affordable muscle back that cultivates fineness and will never go out of style. Started playing again in my mid 50s with Wilson pro-staff midsized cavity back graphite shaft at the recommendation of the pro. I picked up a set of the Ram Goldens 2-pw at a yard sale for a song. My game started to get better the first time I went to the range. The thrill of a squarely hit shot combined with the immediate feed back from poor shots is hard to beat. I can hit the middle of the green with the cavity backs. I hit as least a couple of pins a round with the muscle backs and occasionally hole out when inside 100 yards. I never do that with the cavity backs, but I have to admit they are not top of the line. The next weekend after I got the Rams gripped the pro and I walked 9 before the course opened. Off the first tee my opening shot didn't draw and I ended up in the right fringe barley able to see the top of my ball. He asked why I had those old things and commented that I was probably over clubbed as I took the 9 iron and dropped the ball inside 3 feet of the pin where it stopped. By the end of the nine he was hitting them along with me and commenting on dragging some of his old clubs out of the closet. that over sized head and graphite shaft just does not work out of the rough like the diminutive muscle back. I have an even tempo classic swing and play old hickories occasionally. Going back to a blade was a good choice for me. Going to get some Mizuno 14s next. I have Wilson Pro Staff and Power Built and assorted hickories in the garage. I carry the Rams and Taylor Burner 9.5 and 12 degree drivers as well as a three wood with me where ever I go. zebra putter. 60 degree aw. swap the drivers and or the 2 iron and 3 wood depending on course. Just bought a 1 iron on ebay. We will see:-)
